Peggy Brinkley

Peggy Brinkley, age 77 and a longtime resident of Safford, entered into rest Friday evening, September 23, 2016, at her residence, with her loving husband, David, at her side.

Peggy was born in Ajo, Arizona to Eva and Harleigh Bancroft on September 26, 1938. She moved with her family to Texas only to return to Morenci, Arizona when she was three years old. Peggy attended Morenci High School. She met David Brinkley and married her Junior year of High School. Peggy raised three children with her husband of 61 years. She was a devoted house wife and mother. She didn’t work outside the home until the kids were all grown. Peggy worked as a nurse’s aide at the Morenci Hospital, a job she loved. After 30 years in Morenci, Peggy and David retired to Safford in 1983 and bought their first home. Peggy created a loving home where the family would come together.

Peggy enjoyed reading, crocheting and working on puzzles on her iPad. She loved traveling but wasn’t able to for the last few years due to health complications. Peggy loved going to Alpine for summers. She looked forward to seeing friends and family when they would come to visit her and David there, but mostly Peggy loved her family and the precious time she spent with them.

Peggy is survived by: her devoted husband, David; her children, Dana Vesely (Greg), of Mesa, Judy Baughman (Jerry), of Safford and Mark Brinkley (Debbie), of Safford; her sister, Jackie Quinn (Bobby); nine grandchildren, Spencer, Amber, Westley, Christopher, Megan, Ricky, Lisa, Justin and Katherine; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Peggy is predeceased by: her parents, Harleigh and Eva Bancroft.

A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be conducted Saturday morning, October 8, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley.”
