THATCHER — A little more help is coming to Eastern Arizona College students who might need a little food, some personal items or even clothing.
Over the weekend, Pamper Me Ladies Night Out raised $1,800 for the EAC Monster Exchange food and clothing pantry.
“I was really Impressed with tonight, and the positive nature of it and everything,” said organizer Patti Wren. “And we recognized three incredible women, and that’s probably my favorite part.”
The event is designed for the women of the Gila Valley, with vendors hand-picked for women to shop for holiday gifts for family and friends, or for themselves; everything from fashion and jewelry, to home décor and beauty items.
The highlight of the event was the fashion show on Friday night. This year, local women volunteered to be runway models, showing off the latest clothing available at Copper and Cotton Lifestyle Co and at the EAC Campus Store.
The fashion show also spotlighted the Deserving Divas, three women selected by organizers for a full make-over. This year’s Divas were:
Sarah Rasmussen, a mother of 11 in a blended family, including her youngest who has Down’s syndrome. She teaches at Arizona Arts Academy.
Cindy Pearson, who has taught cooking through the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension for 30 years. She also volunteers with 4-H, Americorps and serves on the Fort Thomas School Board.
Lisa Hatch, a mother of five and grandmother of 11. She’s a teacher and she co-founded with her husband, Luke, the nonprofit organization Families Fighting Cancer Together after their son passed away from cancer.
In addition to the funds raised through the event, on Friday, the National Honor Society students of Thatcher High School donated 540 pounds of nonperishable food to the Monster Exchange.
Donations of nonperishable food, clothing, personal items and cash are accepted at the Monster Exchange weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Monster Exchange is located on the middle campus, on Church Street.
Pamper Me Ladies Night Out is sponsored by Copper and Cotton Lifestyle Co, The Fix Lifestyle and Wellness, CMI, Fizek Fitness, The Wear, Forever Sweet, Eastern Arizona College School of Cosmetology and the Associated Students Eastern Arizona College.
