Overdose victim found in vehicle

Safford – Authorities and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to an area on Airport Road at approximately 1:30 am on January 31, in response to a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle at the side of the road.

Emergency medical personnel found the man unconscious. The man was non-responsive but breathing deeply. The reporting party apparently did not leave their name and the overdose victim was alone when he was found by EMTs. Medics treated the man with Narcan.

When a deputy arrived on the scene the medics said that they had found a syringe and small baggie with black substance in it next to the overdose victim. The victim was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Authorities also found a spoon head with a black substance in the center console of the vehicle. A black bag was found in the driver’s side door that contained an orange pill bottle with three small bags with a green leafy substance. The items were placed in a bio-hazard container and taken for evidence and destruction. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
