Open Loop Energy recently welcomed Ethan Griffin as the company’s first intern through a new partnership with Eastern Arizona College. Ethan is participating in two structured 60-day internship programs focused on Drafting and CNC Programming, where he’ll be working on real-world projects while developing skills tied directly to apprentice-level competencies.
The signing ceremony took place at the Gila Institute for Technology (GIFT) office in Thatcher.
In a statement to GilaValleyCentral, Open Loop Energy officials said, “Open Loop Energy recognizes the critical need for trained professionals in the skilled trades, and we’re honored to be part of the formal training process and Ethan’s journey.”
The larger goal is to strengthen the connection between education and industry while helping prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals here in Graham County.
One aspect that makes this new internship especially meaningful is that Open Loop Energy Assistant Director of Operations, Keith Payne, has served for many years as an adjunct drafting instructor at Eastern Arizona College. Seeing an EAC student begin this internship pathway at Open Loop Energy creates a unique full-circle moment that highlights the value of long-term partnerships between local educators and employers.
