GRAHAM COUNTY — A local man caught wind of a potential scam when applying for a loan online.
The man told Graham County Sheriff’s deputies that, after he input his financial information, he received a call from the supposed lender, telling him they would wire him $800 to improve his credit score, but first he needed to purchase a pre-paid credit card and give the caller that information.
Deputies told the man he was being targeted by scammers and he was advised to change his banking information.
