One new COVID-19 case each in Graham, Greenlee

SAFFORD — The work week ended on a positive note for health-care officials with the announcement of just one new case of coronavirus Friday in Graham County.

Graham County Health Department reported that the case was located in Safford.

There have been 51 new cases in Graham County this week, with 27 of the cases on the San Carlos Apache reservation, 11 in Safford, eight in Pima and five in Thatcher.

Graham County’s total number of cases is at 869, with 142 active. Graham County’s positivity rate is at 4.9 percent. There have been 25 deaths and the county’s mortality rate is 2.87 percent.

Greenlee County also reported a new case late Thursday evening, bringing that county’s total to 60. Two of the cases are considered active and there have been two deaths.

Greenlee County had gone 47 days without a positive test before reporting a new case on Sept. 23, and had gone nine days between discovery of the two latest cases.
