One hurt in Highway 70 crash

GRAHAM COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash resulted in response by multiple agencies.

The accident happened Wednesday, at about 4:30 a.m. on the 4800 block of U.S. Highway 70.

The vehicle hit a power pole, resulting in Graham County Co-op coming in to repair the downed line. That necessitated the closure of the highway by Graham County Sheriff’s deputies.

Thatcher Fire Department was called out to extinguish the resulting vehicle fire, which had spread to a nearby trailer and storage facility. And Lifeline EMS transported the driver to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for unspecified injuries.

Investigation by Arizona Department of Public Safety into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
