SAFFORD — Even more services are coming to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center.
During an appearance on the Voice of the Valley radio show on KATO AM 1230 on Tuesday, Danny Smith, director of Communications for MGRMC, said the hospital will be adding a new service permanently in the fall when Dr. Stephen J. Iacobani becomes the hospital’s first permanent oncologist.
“We hope he’s the first of several, to build a robust Oncology program,” Smith said. “He’ll be here, seeing patients, about mid-September.”
Smith added that the hospital is in talks to bring in other oncology providers to expand the hospital’s ability to treat cancer patients.
In addition, Smith said the hospital has partnered with Vital Solutions to provide cardiology services at the hospital’s new Cath Lab starting this fall.
“They have a network of 200 cardiologists that they can pull from,” Smith said.
Work on the new Cath Lab began this week.
Meanwhile work is wrapping up on the new 36,000 square foot Medical Office 2 that will house Roadrunner Rehab, Mt. Graham Spine and Pain, Mt. Graham Orthopedics and Mt. Graham Ob-Gyn. The ribbon will be cut for the grand opening July 29.
And construction is continuing on the new Copper Mountain Clinic-Thatcher on the campus of Eastern Arizona College, which will open to the public and students in 2026.
