SAFFORD — One year to the day after he accepted the football coaching position at Safford High, John O’Mera has resigned. He let the school and the team know about his departure on Wednesday.

In his only season at the helm the Bulldogs went 4-3 with a loss to ALA-Gilbert North in the first round of the 3A playoffs.

O’Mera tells GilaValleyCentral that it was a family decision and his family will be moving to New Mexico.

Safford opens the 2021 season on August 27th at Blue Ridge.
