SAFFORD — Female body positivity was the message as the GFWC Safford Women’s Club on Friday.

The club hosted Maricopa County-based artist Jen Olson for a special watercolor class that was open to the public.

“I wanted to bring her here to let all the women have a collective experience of self-love, and cherishing yourself and your body,” said club President Brianna Morris.

Olson specializes in artworks focusing on the female form, emphasizing that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors.

“It’s important to me to share this message with women. And art has been personally so fulfilling and healing for me, that I’m excited to share that with other people,” Olson said.

Olson is an EAC graduate, whose family still lives in the Gila Valley. And she was the winner of the first Gila Valley Idol signing competition in 2006. Her artwork can be seen and purchased at Jen Olson Art (jenolsonartwork.com).
