Ofelia Perez Parra

Ofelia Perez Parra, a longtime resident of Clifton, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017, at her residence, with her beloved husband, Jesus, and family at her bedside. She was 75.

Ofelia was born in Morenci on July 18, 1941, the daughter of Liner and Matilde Perez. She was the third of five children. Following her formal education at Clifton Schools, Ofelia married Robert Romero. Together, she and Robert resided in various locations including Morenci, where their first son, Richard, was born and later to California where Robert was born. She next relocated to Tucson, where Fred was born. Ofelia eventually made her way back to Clifton.

Some years later, in 1985, Ofelia met Jesus Parra, or “Chuchi” as he is known by everyone, but she called him “my darling”. They were married on April 4, 1987.

Ofelia worked as a housekeeper for ten years at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church until a decline in health forced her to retire in 1989. In retirement, Ofelia devoted herself to her darling Chuchi and her family. She was a caretaker to her father, her son, Bo, and her many grandchildren.

Ofelia was also known for her love of angels, if it had an angel on it one instantly thought Ofelia would love this. She also enjoyed collecting bingo dauber and going to play bingo. Ofelia could often be found at the bingo hall every Monday and Wednesday. She also was a very welcoming lady. Her home would often be filled with family and friends alike for holidays and family gatherings as well as game nights of Loteria or Phase 10.

Ofelia leaves behind: her husband, Jesus; two sons, Fred Romero (Cathy) and Richard Romero; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Ofelia was welcomed into Heaven by: her son, Robert “Bo”; her parents, Liner and Matilde; her brother, Bo; and two sisters, Lola and Teresita.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Ofelia will be celebrated Friday morning, April 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Rev. Martin Atanga-Baabuge. Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
