No cigarettes leads to jail time

GRAHAM COUNTY — A man upset because he couldn’t get cigarettes found himself booked into Graham County Jail on charges of domestic violence.

The incident occurred Saturday, Aug. 19, at about 5:30 p.m., when the suspect’s parents contacted Graham County Sheriff’s dispatch to report their son was using a knife to cut himself. The parents also said the man became irate and physical with his father, when his father refused to get the man cigarettes

When deputies made contact with the suspect, they saw he had cuts on his finger, which he said came from making dinner. The man denied trying to self harm.

The man said it was his parents who initiated the conflict by calling him names and taking away his phone. He then said he was feeling suicidal and deputies transported him to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center.

MGRMC security then reported the man was disruptive at the hospital; punching walls, yelling at the doctor and refusing to take medication. Again, the man denied the account.

He was taken into custody and booked into Graham County Jail on charges of domestic violence and two counts of disorderly conduct.
