SAFFORD — The Gila Valley Food Coalition and Local First Arizona Foundation have teamed on a new project to get locally-sourced food in front of residents.
The Eat Local Gila Valley Good Food Finder webpage lists local producers where residents may purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs; locally raised beef and lamb; honey from local hives; and freshly made sweets and other items.
“The Gila Valley is rich not only in its agriculture history but also economic potential. Through the work started by the Gila Valley Food Coalition, an opportunity to strengthen the food system arose and now felt like the perfect time to get started,” said Liza Noland, Local First Arizona Foundation director of rural programs.
The webpage also features video features on local producers. Go to https://www.goodfoodfinderaz.com/gilavalley to learn more.
The Eat Local Gila Valley campaign is made possible by a grant from the Vitalyst Health Foundation.
