New coronavirus cases continues decline

SAFFORD — It was a very good weekend in Graham County in terms of COVID-19.

Graham County Health Department reports just seven new cases over the weekend, with no cases being reported Saturday or Sunday.

It was the first time Graham County experienced back-to-back days of no new cases since June 23-24.

Graham County’s total sits at 714, with 259 cases considered active, 433 recovered and 22 deaths.

There have been 3,857 people tested for COVID-19 in Graham County, with 18.51 percent of those tests coming back as positive. The mortality rate of those testing positive is at 3.08 percent; however, there has not been a COVID-19 related death in Graham County since Aug. 19.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe also reported a relatively quiet weekend, with 19 new cases — nine Friday, six Saturday and four Sunday — however, there were two deaths Saturday in the Gilson Wash District in Gila County.

The tribe’s total number of cases is at 789, with 102 active, 673 recovered and 14 deaths.

Greenlee County has now gone 24 days without someone testing positive for COVID-19

Greenlee County Health Department reports the county’s total is holding at 58, with just three cases still active, 53 recovered and two deaths.
