GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County’s two towns are getting ready to join the Gila Valley’s lone city in having a presence on people’s phones.
The Town of Pima is looking into developing a phone app.
“So that you’re able to pay for things (and) see what’s going on in our town,” said Becki Daley, who is overseeing the town’s tech on a part-time basis,
She’s also proposing implementing upgrades to the iWorks system for permitting, implementing a digital platform for the town’s recreation programs, and talk-to-text for the Police Department.
To do all that, the Town Council recently authorized Daley to seek up to $400,000 in grant funding.

Meanwhile, the Town of Thatcher is almost ready to debut its new mobile app to the public.
The Thatcher app will allow residents to pay utility bills and register for recreation programs, as well as see agendas for town committees, apply for permits, view the town calendar and get real-time notifications.
The Thatcher app is still in Beta testing and hasn’t yet been rolled out to the general public.

The City of Safford app is up and running. Residents can sign up for alerts to their phone for road closures, utility outages, Amber alerts, when meeting agendas and calendars are published and other news flashes.
Residents can also use the Safford app to track utility usage, obtain city forms, pay bills and watch the city on YouTube.
