PERIDOT — The San Carlos Apache Tribe is now contending with two wildfires on the reservation.
The Maverick fire, northwest of Mount Turnbull, had originally grown to 750 acres, but is now down to 567 acres and 65-percent containment.
The fire was discovered Monday, June 30, at 4:17 p.m. Cause has not yet been determined.
The Goat fire, southeast of Mount Turnbull, was discovered just after noon on Tuesday, July 1. It is currently at 94 acres with 0-percent containment.
