Man arrested for obstructing highway traffic

A man was arrested for obstructing traffic late Sunday night after standing in the middle of Highway 70 near Bowie Avenue in Solomon, trying to stop traffic. The man was apparently making incoherent statements about being kidnapped and wanting to kill officers.

Graham County deputies and Safford Police arrived on seen just before midnight and held the man at gunpoint at the side of the road until he was secured in handcuffs. The man was reportedly agitated, sweating profusely and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. He continually made unintelligible statements about filing a police report, about Safford police conspiring to have him kidnapped and jumping out of a car going 140 mph.

The man was cleared by medical personnel before being transported to the Graham County Jail where he was booked on charges of obstructing a highway.
