SAFFORD — Downtown Safford will be busy Valentine’s Day, with two events both happening at The Venue on Main.
In the morning and afternoon, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford’s annual Valentine’s Day Dance for those with special needs will return after a two-year layoff.
“We’re really excited to take this event to this new, beautiful space that we can showcase for the community — The Vignette and The Venue,” said Brianna Morris, Woman’s Club president. “It gives us lots more room for all of these guests. We grew so big that it had to be broken into morning dance and afternoon dance.”
Organized by club member Donna McGaughey, the club provides each guest with a gift, a flower, a photo, snacks and plenty of time to dance. School-aged children take part in the morning and adults in the afternoon, with everything wrapping by 3 p.m.
The facility will then re-set for the inaugural Valentine’s Dinner at The Venue and Vignette on Main.
“We want to introduce The Vignette, but we also want to introduce the entire concept that we have going on down there now, with the addition of The Vignette to The Venue,” said owner Kym Gifford. “So we decided that we are going to sponsor events there ourselves, and a lot of them . . . the proceeds will go towards different charities and scholarships throughout the Valley.”
The recent New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball at The Venue raised $500 for the Safford Rotary EAC Scholarship fund.
The Valentine’s Dinner will feature a tour of Italy meal for two, catered by Jenny Howard and Ginaveve’s Marketplace; four drink tickets, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available; and dancing.
Seating is limited and cost is $100 per couple. Tickets must purchased in advance and can be purchased at Keyhole Properties, or by calling or texting 928-965-0371.
