The Safford City-Graham County Library will be hosting the Gila Valley’s third annual Comic-Con this Saturday, June 24. The goal of the LibraryCon is to celebrate the books, comics, movies and TV shows that have led to large fan followings. The highlight will be a cosplay competition for all ages, with categories for children, teens, adults and groups.

“We know people are getting their cosplay costumes ready,”  Library-Con Coordinator Lesley Talley said. “I think we will have some great competition this year.”

New activities this year include a button making craft and a virtual reality demonstration by the new Safford business BrainStorms VR. There will also be fandom gear for sale from Amazing Discoveries (Tucson).

Scheduled events include:

Cosplay makeup demonstration at 2:15 p.m.

Cosplay competition begins (come in costume to compete) at 2:30 p.m.

Comic button craft at 3:15 p.m.

Other activities, including hands-on crafts for kids, fandom displays, great door prizes, a FANtastic photo booth and green screen, will run the entire event.

Dress as characters at the Safford Library-Con.
