SAFFORD — The Safford City-Graham County Library announced the opening of a new exhibition, Discover Exoplanets: The Search for Alien Worlds.

This exhibition was developed by the Space Science Institute’s National Center for Interactive Learning in partnership with NASA’s Universe of Learning.

“This is the same group we worked with for the Stem Equity, who brought in the three years of the science exhibits we’ve had in the past,” said Assistant Library Director Leslie Talley. “We’ve seen the kids be excited and engaged with it, but a lot of the adults, too.”

This interactive, all-ages exhibition explores the fascinating world of space science and astronomy. Discover Exoplanets covers topics such as the search for habitable worlds beyond our solar system, how NASA scientists are searching for these worlds, and how they may be like our own.

Discover Exoplanets strives to make science fun with hands-on, multimedia activities. The Safford Library will also be offering a related series of public events to bring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programming to children, teens and adults in our community. A full list of these activities can be found at www.saffordlibrary.org.

An open house celebrating the exhibit will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4-6 p.m. Community members of all ages are invited to attend. The exhibit will be on display Monday-Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, through Nov. 20.

The Safford Library was selected as one of 10 sites nationwide to host Discover Exoplanets.  This project was made possible through support from NASA, under cooperative agreement number NNX16AC65A.
