Laurie Hawkins, age 52, passed away at her residence in Ft. Thomas on February 8, 2023. She had been ill for several months but her passing was unexpected.
Laurie was born in Tucson, on October 20, 1970. Her growing up and education years were spent in Ft. Thomas, but also in Las Vegas, Nevada and Bethel, Alaska.
She loved the desert. A perfect day would be spent walking, looking for interesting rocks and artifacts. She loved the Gila Valley and never wanted to live anywhere else.
Laurie was very creative, artistic, and definitely a DIY kind of girl. She had beautiful house plants and vegetables in her yard. She loved geology, archeology, and the history of past civilizations in this area. Her unique sense of humor would give us a new perspective of events. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by: her parents, Terry and Kathy Shine and Spencer Herbert; her siblings, Carrie, Sean, Andrea and Jacob; her daughters, Lindsey and Nikki Shine.
A Celebration of Laurie’s Life will be conducted Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., in the Cultural Hall of the Ft. Thomas Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Shawn Wright of the Ft. Thomas Ward.
