SOLOMON — One of the Gila Valley’s oldest eateries has closed its doors.

On its social media Tuesday, La Paloma Restaurant announced it was closing indefinitely.

“With a broken heart and a tired soul, it is my deepest regret to inform La Paloma has closed indefinitely. We will miss bringing joy to others through our food and being a part of the community,” the posting on Facebook read.

La Paloma is known for its authentic Sonora, Mexican cuisine and was first opened more than 45 years ago.

The restaurant is owned by Nick Nordgran-Tellez, who was recently elected the new board president for the Graham County Chamber of Commerce.

He started managing the restaurant in 2011 before purchasing it in 2016. One year later, Nordgran-Tellez was awarded the Small Business Development Center Arizona Network’s 2017 Success Award.
