Kyle Hull named new Thatcher boys basketball coach

Hull will return to his alma mater where he was a member of the 1995 Championship team.

THATCHER — Kyle Hull will take over the Thatcher boys basketball team.

Hull was a member of the 1995 Eagles’ 2A State Championship team that beat Superior 44-41 in the title game. He also served as an assistant coach last year for the Eagles program.

“I am super excited for this opportunity and to be this close to the game again. I really love the game of basketball and all it has to offer. The challenge and competition drives me to be a competitor. I’m excited to be a part of the program that I came through and hope the boys can learn something that will help them be better young men and better in life,” said Hull.

Thatcher finished the 2019-2020 season with 21 wins and a 2A State Playoff appearance. The Eagles will move up to 3A next year and will play in the 3A South Central. Other teams in that league include ALA – Ironwood, Coolidge, Florence, Globe and San Tan Foothills.

“Moving up to 3A is going to be fun and challenging. I’m excited because it will be new and different and will push us to be better and work harder. We will have our challenges no doubt but we have a good young group that are hungry. We want to make an impact when we show up,” Hull added.
