WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema announced Thursday that Graham and Greenlee counties will see funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 bipartisan federal appropriations legislation.

Graham County Sheriff’s Office will receive $140,000 for new vehicles, while the San Carlos Apache Tribal Police will get $674,000 for equipment modernization.

In Greenlee County, $288,000 is being allocated for the Soap Box Canyon bridge replacement project, and $361,000 for new model canal storm water management.

In a prepared statement, Kelly said, “After months of work with mayors, law enforcement, and local leaders, these new investments will go directly to Arizona communities. Whether it’s providing critical resources for our police officers, improving high-speed internet access for rural Arizonans, or upgrading water infrastructure during this drought, these projects are going to improve peoples’ lives across the state.”

In total, Arizona will see more than $132 million in federal funding.
