A Safford police officer was responding to a call notifying them of suspicious activity regarding an abandoned house on the West side of 12th Avenue when a young woman emerged from the abandoned home. The officer told the young woman to stay where she was because he could hear other subjects from inside the house. The three young adults inside were found smoking marijuana and were told their rights and were extremely cooperative with the officers.
It was later found that one of the young women had no way to contact her parent(s) and Child Protective Services was contacted to make a report regarding who the young woman would live with. She was placed with her friend’s mother, who is eagerly waiting to take the young woman when she is released from a juvenile detention center.
