Juvenile charged for misconduct with a weapon

SAFFORD — Discharging of firearms landed a pair of juveniles in hot water.

Safford Police, assisted by Thatcher and Pima police officers and Graham County Sheriff’s deputies, chased down the juveniles along the canal on 14th, finding one hiding in a ditch about 20 feet down an embankment, and the other found by the GCSO K9 detail hiding in bushes near the canal.

One of the juveniles was found in possession of a .40 caliber Springfield semi-automatic pistol, which was reported stolen during a burglary in Thatcher.

The juveniles did not say who else was involved in the incident, but did claim there was a second weapon involved.

The juvenile found in possession of the weapon was placed under arrest for being a prohibited possessor of a firearm, misconduct involving a weapon by someone under 21, disorderly conduct involving a weapon and possession of stolen property.

The other suspect was referred to juvenile probation for being a underage with alcohol in the body.
