Joyce Pauline (Hill) Carter

Joyce Pauline (Hill) Carter, or ‘Polly’, a longtime resident of the Gila Valley, entered peacefully into eternal rest Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Essential Patient Care facility in Safford. She was 93.

Polly was born in 1929, in Sweetwater, Texas, and grew up in Thatcher on Reay Lane and the highway.

She is survived by: her husband of sixty years, Wendell Carter; her son, Douglas (Megan); her two grandson’s, Tate and Max; her sister, Vangie Bryce; and her brother, Dudley Hill.

A large loving family preceded her, she had eight siblings.

Polly’s life has been one of selfless concern for family and others and devotion to the Lord for His many blessings.

Funeral services for Polly will be conducted Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Safford Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop LaMont Whetten of the Safford 3rd Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Thursday morning, August 24, 2023, from 10:0 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., in the Safford Stake Center Relief Society room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
