PHOENIX — For the first time in 2025, the unemployment rate in Greenlee County hit a high of 3 percent.

That’s according to data released Thursday by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

Despite the increase, Greenlee County still has the lowest unemployment in the state, ahead of Maricopa County at 3.9 percent and Graham County at 4.2 percent.

It’s the 43rd month in a row Greenlee County had the lowest unemployment rate in the state.

Graham County’s jobless rate increase was three-tenths of a point in June, the second month in a row that unemployment grew in the Gila Valley.

The jobless rate in Cochise County also increased by three-tenths of a percentage point in June, to 5.3 percent.

Arizona’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained flat in June, at 4.1 percent, while the national unemployment rate dropped by one-tenth of a point to 4.1 percent.

Job gains were reported in just three economic sectors: Trade, transportation and utilities (up 1,600 jobs); manufacturing (up 1,100 jobs); and construction (up 600 jobs).

Reporting job losses were: Government (down 37,100 jobs), professional and business services (down 8,500 jobs), leisure and hospitality (down 7,400 jobs), private educational services (down 5,900 jobs), health care and social assistance (down 1,700 jobs), financial activities (down 700 jobs), and information (down 500 jobs).
