Jerry Duane Burkett

Jerry Duane Burkett, a resident of Thatcher, Arizona, was called home by his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on the morning of Monday, September 26, 2022, at his home at the age of 60.

Anybody that knew Jerry, knew he had a strong love for his family, God, and music. He worked 41 years for Phelps Dodge/Freeport McMoRan. When he wasn’t working, he was camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and vacationing with his beautiful loving wife. Although most of his time was spent with his family. Jerry, the “Gentle Giant,” will be greatly missed especially his bear hugs and how he always made people feel special. 

Jerry is preceded in death by: his father, Gerald Burkett; and his sister, Lori Jo Burkett.

He is survived by: his mother, Joyce Burkett; his 2 brothers, Michael Burkett (Celina) of Flagstaff, David Burkett (Michelle) of Texas; by his best friend and love of his life, Susan Burkett; five sons, Jacob Trujillo (Gina) of Safford, Jacob Chappell (Cassie) of Texas, Kyle Burkett (Desiree) of Thatcher, Caleb Burkett of Thatcher, and Jesse Burkett of Safford; along with 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews that adored him.

Family will receive friends Friday, October 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at The River Community Church.
