JD Lawson

Loving husband, father, and grandfather, JD Lawson passed away at the age of 79 on November 21, 2016, at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. JD was born to AV and Frank Lawson in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He was the fourth of eight children. His family moved to Eloy, Arizona, when he was a young boy.

JD attended the University of Idaho on an academic and football scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology/Pre-Med Sciences. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. Thereafter, JD worked at San Quentin Prison as a supervisor in the counseling department for several years. JD obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco. His practice was in Scottsdale, Arizona, for 32 years. He also practiced for the State of New York for 5 years before retiring to Safford, Arizona. JD loved being involved with the community and donated many dental services toward charity.

JD is survived by: his brothers, David and Marvin Lawson; sisters, Louginia Jordan, Pearlie Price, and Shirley Lawson; his wife of 42 years, Darlene Byrd Lawson; and children, Adrian Lawson, Armond Lawson, Breh Lundquest, Shayleh Moffett, Daijah Keenan, Kyrah Lawson, Zuryah Lawson, and Dhyandra Lawson; and fourteen grandchildren.

A Celebration of Dr. Lawson’s Life will be conducted Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the American Royal Palace – Banquet Hall and Conference Center, 1915 West Thunderbird Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85023.
