THATCHER — The Safford Lions Club announced Wednesday the Produce on Wheels Without Waste (Pow Wow) event for Saturday, Jan. 6, has been canceled.
Borderlands Produce Rescue, which makes excess produce coming in from Mexico available to nonprofit organizations for fund-raising, told the club there is an insufficient amount of produce coming over the border this month.
The Safford Lions Club will resume Pow Wow produce distribution in February. The program provides up to 70 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for a $15 donation.
