Janet Marie Smith

Janet Marie Smith, 58, passed away June 27, 2018 at her home in Logan, Utah.

She was born June 10, 1960 to Prentice Eugene Smith and Elnora Coila Olsen Smith in Driggs, Teton County, Idaho. She was number five of six children, red headed and beautiful.

She grew up on “Our Corner” in Driggs, surrounded by aunts and uncles, cousins and neighbors who loved and watched out for her.

Her siblings were Jimmie (Kimba) and LeeAnn (Brent), Kent (Lynne), Lynn (Sandra), Ken (Karri, girlfriend).

There are many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Janet loved her dogs and had many whom she doted on and called her children.

She taught school in Thatcher for 25 years and loved being a teacher, and to quote her students “One of the best Teachers, ever”!  When her health declined and she had to retire she continued to teach, taking opportunities to tutor struggling students and writing skits for home coming for Thatcher High. This gave her great joy.

Janet was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a Spanish speaking mission to Arizona. Her teaching skills were an asset in her church callings. She taught Gospel Doctrine and lessons in Relief Society. The seats were always filled on the days she taught.

Janet loved her family; brothers, sisters (including Kimba, Lynne and Sandra), nieces, and nephews were a big part of her life and her heart.

She was not afraid to die and was excited about her next new adventure.  She will truly be missed.
