Hyperbaric Therapy coming to the Gila Valley

SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors unanimously gave the thumbs-up Monday to a new business unique to the Gila Valley.

The board approved a conditional use permit for a hyperbaric oxygen therapy business to be temporarily operated on the 3300 block of Duncan Way in Central.

“We provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Mild hyperbaric, so it’s not medical,” said owner Dawn Norton. “We’ll be providing red-light therapy, as well as infrared sauna.”

Norton said she believes she’s found a permanent location in Safford, but it will take about six months before the property will be ready.

She explained that hyperbaric oxygen therapy will “promote healing in the body.”

“We don’t claim to cure or treat anything, because we are not medical professionals. I’m a national board certified health and wellness coach, that’s what I do,” she said.

The vote was 2-0 to approve the conditional use permit. Supervisor Danny Smith was absent.
