Holiday air is filled with music

SAFFORD —December is the month for music in the Gila Valley.

Safford Unified School District announced two performances this month. First is a dance recital at the David M. Player Center for the Arts on Friday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m., followed by the Safford High School Music Department’s performance at the CFA on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Thatcher Middle School Choir will hold its concert Monday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m., while the TMS Band will perform Thursday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. Both concerts will be held at the CFA.

Thatcher High School Choir will perform Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m., at the CFA and perform the Vespers Night of Sacred Music on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Safford. And the THS Band and Orchestra will perform Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m., in the Thatcher High School Commons.

Eastern Arizona College will present this year’s Festival of Carols, entitled “O Holy Night,” on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., at the EAC Fine Arts Auditorium. That’s followed by the Gila Valley’s longest running tradition, the communitywide performance of Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m., also at the EAC Fine Arts Auditorium.
