SAFFORD — The skies will be filled over Safford Regional Airport-1Lt Duane Spalsbury Field this Saturday.
Gates open for the Safford Air Show at 10 a.m. Saturday, with a plethora of aeronautic marvels.
“We’ve got great aerobatic performers, we’ve got some formation teams coming in,” said Airport Manager Cameron Atkins. “We’ve got a flight simulator coming that everybody can enjoy. And we’ve got retired Army (UH-1) Huey and (AH-1) Cobra that are coming and giving helicopter rides during the event.”
Flying in the will be Anthony Oshingua in the Pitts Special, Alfred Maldonando in the Fouga Magister, Torrey Ward in the Subsonex Microjet, Erik Swanson T-6 Aerobatics, Dan Kirkland T-28 Aerobatics, Jeff Boerboon Decathlon Aerobatics, the Desert Rats CJ-6 Formation Team, and Mike Rutledge in the FM2 Wildcat.
Also part of the show will be a parachute demonstration.
There will also be static (non-flying) displays from the CAF C-47, PB4Y Privateer, USAF U-28 Drago, privately owned PT-26 and Gyroplane, and a SOCOM C-27J.
Admission to the Safford Air Show is $15 per person, $7 for children 2-17 and seniors 65 and older, and free for children 1 and younger and veterans. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
