Health Department at stores distributing masks, hand sanitizing shoppers

SAFFORD – The Graham County Health Department is going directly to the people to get the message out about proper precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday morning, Health Department staff was at the entrances to Walmart, offering those entering the store doses of hand sanitizer and a free mask to wear while shopping.

“We’re targeting our most vulnerable population, so we’re coming during senior shopping time,” said Melissa Lunt, director of nursing for the Health Department. “Most of all, we’re grateful for the volunteers who have sewn and sewn all these masks.”

The Health Department will offer a squirt of hand sanitizer and a free mask at Safeway Thursday morning, Thriftee Food and Drug on Friday and at Basha’s next week.
