Gwena Layton Motes, a lifelong resident of the Gila Valley, entered into eternal life, Thursday morning, July 14, 2016, at her residence, with her children around her. She was 93.
Gwena leaves behind: her two daughters, Ida Hardy (Gareth) and Mary Zinke; three sons, Marvin (Elaine), Devon and Ronnie; her sister, Velma Jean Layton Holley; three brothers, Darl Keith Layton, Larry Wayne Layton and Elbert Jay Layton; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Gwena was predeceased by: her husband, Delbert; her parents, Ralph Reay Layton and Ida Isabel Norton Layton; two brothers, Melburn Corthel “Bud” Layton and Farrel Ralph “Jake” Layton; her grandson, Russel Hardy and a son-in-law, Rick Zinke.
Funeral services for Gwena will be conducted Saturday morning, July 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the Mount Graham L.D.S. Chapel by Bishop Reed Larson of the Safford Eighth Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Gila Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 22, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at the Mount Graham L.D.S. Chapel Relief Society Room.
