Graham, Greenlee escaping flu

PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Health Services reports a record low number of cases of influenza in Graham and Greenlee counties.

On Jan. 16, Graham County recorded its fifth case of flu this season, while Greenlee County has yet to experience a confirmed case of flu.

Typically, by the eighth week of the influenza season, Graham County experiences 19 cases in the week, and, on average, has a total of 138 cases.

Of Graham five cases thus far this season, two are Influenza A, two are Influenza B and one is an unknown strain. Two of the victims are over the age of 65, two are between the ages of 50 and 64, and one between 19 and 49 years old.

Statewide, there have been 794 cases of flu so far this season, while there were 14,873 cases at the same time in 2020, and 8,014 in 2019.
