SAFFORD — When Graham County voters cast their ballot in Democratic and Republican primaries, they can feel confident their vote will be counted accurately.

A recent re-test by the Secretary of State’s Office of Graham County’s voting machines showed the machines passed with flying colors.

“It was a good process,” said Kip Kempton, Graham County Republican chairman. “I think it’s important that everyone knows the state is prepared and the county is prepared, and the machines have been tested in, what is to me, a very adequate process.”

Kempton, along with his Democratic counterpart, observed the re-testing Sunday, July 3. The second round of tests were required when an audio portion of the ballot — for sight-impaired voters — transposed two names on the ballot.

Cochise County also had their machines re-tested and passed that day, also for the audio ballots, but in Cochise County’s case it was a pronunciation issue that needed correction. Early voting for the Aug. 2 primary for both parties is going on now.
