Graham County experiences third COVID-19 death

SAFFORD — A third resident of Graham County has died as a result of COVID-19.

Graham County Health Department reported the person was in his or her 40s. There was no information about whether the person had an underlying medical condition.

In addition to the death, the Health Department announced eight new cases Thursday. Four of the new cases are from Safford and four from Pima.

There have been 40 new cases in the past five days starting Sunday, June 28.

The county has experienced a total of 125 cases since the start of the pandemic and, of that total, 89 of the cases are still active and 33 have recovered.

Greenlee County is holding at 18 cases — nine have recovered and eight are active — with one death.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe reports 177 total positive cases — 155 are members living on the reservation and 22 off — after nine new cases were reported Friday afternoon.

Fifty-eight of those infected have recovered, 114 are active and there have been five deaths — one on the reservation and four off.
