SAFFORD — On Tuesday, the Graham County Attorney’s Office requested approval from the Board of Supervisors to renew the contracts with two attorneys who provide prosecutorial services.

The attorneys are Matt Clifford and Daniel Taylor, and County Attorney L. Scott Bennett explained that contracts are different.

“As opposed to an hourly rate, which has been the norm for Mr. Clifford, this is a yearly contract (for Taylor) that allows for the prosecution up to a specific number of felony cases. It’s a set fee. This is my preference as we can budget for it,” Bennett said.

The board voted unanimously to approve the contracts.

“With the terrific — I don’t know if it’s the media or if we really are seeing terrific crime and an increase in violence — how important it is for us to maintain law and order in Graham County,” said Supervisor Paul David.
