SAFFORD — On Monday, the Graham County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the county’s back-up plans in case anything goes wrong in an election.
“This is something we have to file with the Secretary of State’s Office at least 10 days in advance of any federal, statewide or legislative election, “said Hannah Duderstadt, director of Elections for the county. “This is the plan that we have used in the past. We have updated the contacts with current staff as well as our Secretary of State partners.”
The plan takes into account a number of possible issues that could impact voting, including having extra ballot printers to replace any that malfunction, what to do if a vote center is offline or unable to be used, have a back-up generator to ensure vote tabulation is uninterrupted and ensure a sufficient number of Sheriff’s Office deputies are on-hand if additional security is needed for unexpected transportation of voting materials in the event of a system failure.
It also defines Gila County as the emergency tabulator of Graham County ballots in the event of a catastrophic system failure.
The next election is the Presidential Preference election, March 19. Only those registered with a party may cast a ballot.
Vote Centers are located at:
