SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors agreed to spend about $4,000 to get maximum use out of $80,000.
During Monday’s meeting, the board voted unanimously to accept an $80,000 grant from United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties, and to spend $3,704.25 to make up the difference needed to purchase 11 new digital radios for probation officers.
“That’s quite a good trade there — $4,000 for $84,000 worth of equipment,” said Supervisor John Howard. “We always accept the grants, and happy that you guys work hard to get those grants. And (we) appreciate United Way for their participation in Graham County and all they do for us.”
Graham County Dispatch is transitioning to a digital communications platform and the new Motorola APX 8000 radios and chargers will enable Probation to remain in contact with other law enforcement agencies in the Gila Valley.
