Gonzalo C. Ochoa, of York Valley, passed away at age 83 on April 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
Gonzalo “Ochy” was born in Clifton, Arizona, on June 12, 1938. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1956. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served for 4 years before returning home to Clifton and marrying the love of his life, Lily Pino.
Gonzalo built his home in York Valley to raise his family. He worked as a boilermaker for Phelps Dodge until he retired in 1999. He then enjoyed spending his time at the casinos and playing with his grandkids.
Gonzalo is preceded in death by: his parents, Gonzalo T. and Maria Ochoa; brother, Henry; and infant son, Gonzalo III.
He is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Lily; siblings, Julia (Bill) Reel, Helen (Bobby) Contreras, Connie (Ron) Moreno, Steve (Toni) Ochoa; daughters, Joyce Blalock, Debra (Dan) Sullivan, Janet (Jeromy) Vaughn; and grandkids, Jasmine, Jacob, Christopher, Stephanie, Ryan, Madison, Connor (Michaela) and Carson.
Funeral services for Gonzalo will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church. The Rosary will be at 9 am, Mass at 10, and burial immediately following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
