Golf, classic cars, egg hunts this weekend

SAFFORD — It’s another busy Saturday in the Gila Valley this week.

Things get under way at 7 a.m. with the shotgun start of the four-man scramble of the Boys & Girls Club of the Gila Valley Benefit Fund-raiser Golf Tournament at Mt. Graham Golf Club.

There will also be a raffle and a 50/50 drawing, plus prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin.

Cost is $200 per team and includes golf cart and lunch. All proceeds will be used to support the Boys & Girls Club’s summer program.

At 9 a.m., the inaugural Pima Fire Fest and Classic Car Show will start. The event features an exhibition of Pima Fire Department equipment as well as raffles, food and awards for the classic cars.

Day of show car registration is $25 and all proceeds benefit the Pima Volunteer Fire Department’s effort to build a new fire station.

First United Methodist Church will host a free Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is open to all children and their families, and will feature games and photos with the Easter Bunny.

Finally, a Tri-Valley Vendor Event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW post in Thatcher.

The event will also offer an egg hunt for children, starting at 1 p.m.
