SAFFORD — A pair of donations are helping youth survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault prepare for the coming school year.
Mt. Graham Safe House said the $12,565 raised from community donations through the December 2024 Light the World Giving Machines by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be used to purchase new clothing and shoes for school-aged children currently served by the shelter.
In addition, the children will receive new backpacks and school supplies thanks to Love Outreach Ministries.
“These donations play a vital role in assisting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, providing them with necessary items that they may struggle to obtain for their families. This support represents a crucial step in their journey toward healing and moving forward from their challenges. Many clients arrive with little more than the clothes they are wearing, and the ability to purchase new school clothes for their children significantly alleviates the stress for parents seeking safety and support,” Brandy Burnett, outreach manager for Safe House, said in a prepared release.
Safe House can still use donations of everyday items for those at the shelter, everything from clothes and personal items to cleaning supplies and towels.
