SAFFORD — Cruella DeVille and her gang of Dalmatian pups at Ginaveve’s Market Place earned the Gila Valley Emergency Medical Services Council $500.

The money was the prize for the Copper Hills Dental/Graham County Chamber of Commerce second annual Halloween Spooktacular Costume Contest.

“We put $100 in the pot, each business that competes, and the winner of the competition gets to choose where the pot s going to go to; a local nonprofit of choice,” said Brooke Curley with the Chamber.

Ginaveve’s Market Place, Valley Telecom, Rustic Lace, Double R Communications and Copper Hills Dental all competed in this year’s competition.

“The girls came up with the 101 Dalmatian theme, and it’s my favorite show. Everything fell into place,” said Jenny Howard, owner of Ginaveve’s Market Place.

David Tanstaafl, chairperson of the Gila Valley Emergency Medical Services Council board, said the money will go toward trauma support training.

“We have a peer support team founded several years ago,” Tanstaafl said, “Over the years, the people have come and gone, and now we don’t have as many people who have received the training.”
