COCHISE COUNTY — The Gila Valley Hiking Club is trekking south this weekend . . . weather permitting.
The club plans to hike Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountain this Saturday. The 6.5-mile roundtrip hike will be in the Eastern Stronghold, on trail No. 279, to the Divide between the Eastern and Western Strongholds.
Hikers will meet in the Graham County Fairgrounds parking lot at 8 a.m. to arrange carpools. Hikers are advised to dress in layers, as the morning cold will give way to warmer temperatures as the hike progresses.
As always, good hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water are essential. Dogs are welcome if leashed.
