SAFFORD — The Gila Valley Arts Council was forced to postpone this year’s performing arts series due to the ongoing pandemic, but the show must still go on.
Arts Council president Tom Green announced that, in conjunction with Gold Canyon Arts Council, concert pianist Sean Chen will conduct two virtual programs later this month — a master class for music students and a concert.
Chen was the first American to reach the finals of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition since 1997. He went on to win the bronze medal in 2014, and then became the 2015 recipient of the $100,000 Annenberg Fellowship.
The master class will take place Thursday, Nov. 19, while the free concert can be viewed Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.
