Communities in the Gila Valley are getting into the spirit this week to celebrate the 4th of July. Safford, Thatcher, and Pima all have planned celebrations scheduled for this Thursday – and it looks like a lot of fun.
The patriotic celebrations starts in Pima at 6:00 AM with a traditional, patriotic flag raising along with a short program and music. The flag raising ceremony will take place in the Pima park, between the fire station and library. A pancake breakfast will follow the ceremony. A $3.00 donation is requested for the breakfast, but Veterans and Active Military Personnel can eat for free.
Next is Thatcher. The Town of Thatcher will break out their fire trucks and blast the sirens until the whole town wakes up. This year the parade committee is going to let everyone sleep in – they won’t start until 7:00am at Thatcher High School.
There will be a parade on Church Street that will take everyone down to the Splash Park where a Patriotic Program will take place along with lots of fun and ceremony. The EAC swimming pool will be open for free swimming.
Safford is planning a 4th of July Parade at 10:00 AM that will travel east on Main Street to Third Avenue. The Parade will turn right and travel to some bleachers and stop. Before the Parade, there will be a patriotic program scheduled with music and announcements.
And don’t forget the fabulous Graham County 4th of July Fireworks Display that’s going to start at dark. There will be a fishing Derby starting at 6:00 PM, at the fairgrounds ponds.
Let Freedom Ring is the Fireworks Display title and everyone is invited to the Graham County Fairgrounds to celebrate.
